Announcing the Youth Art Apprenticeship Fund
Our young people are the thread that holds this work together. The more we invest in the curiosity and creative education of our young people, the clearer the cultural career paths will become for them, and the stronger our community will be. That’s why ARTs East New York has deepened our commitment to our future leaders, and is building a Youth Art Apprenticeship Fund that will support our mentorship and experiential learning initiative.
Now in its third year, our Youth Art Apprenticeship Program hosts local emerging artists, ages 14-21, through a 16 week program that includes: artistic skills building, large-scale project management, civic engagement, resource procurement, and mentorship from our program staff and professional socially engaged artists — all while assisting in the activation of local public space.
This year is the first time ARTs East New York was able to offer stipends to our apprentices for their work on our public art projects! We find this to be a key aspect to instilling the possibility of a lifelong career in the arts, and to encouraging the necessity of their work in the community.
Your generous support will ensure the success of all key aspects of this program for years to come.
