Catherine Green

Founder/Executive Director

Catherine Green is the Founder and Executive Director of ARTs East New York Inc. (AENY), a non-profit community arts organization. Its mission is to use the transformative power of the arts as a tool for social and economic change for the East New York, Brooklyn community. Founded by Green in 2009, AENY serves a growing community of 120,000 residents providing access and affordability to innovative arts programming.

Licia Ishangi

Human Resources Manager

Licia Ishangi joined Arts East New York in 2015, to provide administrative support and assistance to the Director. Previously Licia had a ten year relationship with Banana Republic, working at their Lincoln center location in New York city as a lead manager, responsible for sales production, and excellent customer service supervision. Licia attended kingsborough community college in Brooklyn, New York.

Alexis Mena

Public Programs Manager

Alexis Mena is an Afro-Latino interdisciplinary artist and educator, born and raised in East New York. From an early age, Alexis gravitated towards art as a means of escape and meditation to cope with the day-to-day struggle of living in poverty. Alexis joined ARTs East New York as the project manager of Mi Tierra, an urban planning initiative that transformed a 10,000 sq. ft. vacant lot in East New York into a vibrant green space available for use by its underserved community.

Nicolas Savvides

Nicolas Savvides believes that strong, local communities can change the world. Nicolas’ work is a practice of sustainable design and economic development. Nicolas is an artist-entrepreneur working in the realms of real estate, education, music, visual art and culture.

Victoria Capote

Development Manager

Victoria Capote is the Development Manager of ARTS East New York and has been an integral member of the New York City Performing Arts community for over 15 years. Her roots as a student and Intern at the Henry Street settlement allowed for exposure and first hand experience on how to utilize the arts as a vehicle for community engagement and social change. She graduated from Hampshire College with a B.A. in Applied Performance & Arts Management. Victoria is also a teaching artists and provides workshops on leadership for up and coming artists.
